Okay, maybe that's a lie. (OH JEEZUS WHERE'S MY PHONE!? OH GOSH IT'S NOT IN MY POCKET IT'S...oh it's on the bed.) I can admit to to you that I've only been legitimately frightened twice while I'm here in college, and neither of them are very...scary.
Oh what the heck, I'll tell you about when one of my friends was scared out of her wits, too.
1) The Clang
So I had to volunteer for a service project for one of my classes, so I decided to help build a "haunted house" at a local children's museum. My little group was assigned to sprucing up a "witch's hut." A cauldron, many candles, stuff like that.
So anyway, we were pretty much finished, and trying to do whatever else we could. While I was looking at a table of candles...
"CLANG!"
I felt a shot of adrenaline shoot up my body. I was scared out of my wits! Turns out, someone dropped a metal candle-holder (one you could hang on things). It didn't help that it was dropped in a three-walled tent, amplifying the sound.
Okay, so the story itself isn't frightening, but...you just don't get scared in college, y'know? Especially when you're a boring, sheltered, lacking-common-sense individual like myself.
Hmm...how about another's misfortunes?
So I was sitting in Jena's dorm room. She was lying on her stomach looking at her Macbook on her bed, which was facing the window. I was sitting on the floor, watching TV, when something caught my eye in the window.
"Jena...I think there are some people on the roof."
"Oh, wow..." she had said, not really paying attention to what I told her.
All of a sudden here eyes flew open, and she gasped. The girl from one dorm room over was looking at us through the window, and it sure scared the s*@t out of Jena. The look on her face was truly priceless. It was pretty hilarious to see.
I've got one more story, again, that's not really scary, but scared the bajeezus out of me when it happened.
I was in my dorm room, on my laptop. My desk sits right next to my window, so I would occasionally glance outside and admire the weather.
Suddenly, squirrel.
On my windowsill.
I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't scared out of my wits for a few moments. I even rolled my chair back a foot. Then I took the opportunity to really examine the creature beyond the glass. It was actually kind of cool.
Some of the squirrels on this campus are fearless, I tells ya. Anyone here can attest to that...but that's for another time...maybe...
Sorry for the sucky stories. Thanks for reading!
