Sorry I haven't updated the blog recently. I've actually got a lot of work to do here in college, and I don't have much time at the moment.

Please enjoy these videos.

It's not only time; it's been time.

Now that that's out of the way, how about a spoof?

Definitley follow Mr. Dawson for funny videos!

Things that ruin Thanksgiving!

I love Ryan Higa! Another channel you should definitely check out!

Need some inspiration? Alright!

Your weekly dose of Pony!

No, I don't know what just happened.

Lastly, a shout-out to the Muppets. (IF YOU'RE A CHILD AT HEART, GO SEE THE MOVIE!)

When you can hear the audience singing along...I'm almost moved to tears.

That's it for this week, folks! See ya real soon!

Learn to Internet: Twitter

Oh. My. God. I fallen in love with Twitter over the past month. It truly is one of the best social networks out there. I'm supposing you'll want to know why?

Well, alright.

1) Following Celebrities

This is probably the biggest draw of Twitter. I mean, you're reading words that a celebrity actually typed out! Isn't that cool? I love when they post pics and such, even if they're just of something funny they saw or their pets. I also like when they talk to each other over Twitter, especially when they mock one another. It's certainly interesting to read.

You really get to know them as people better by the things they tweet and such, and it can be fun. For instance, just the other day, Cory Monteith had a random Q&A where he answered Twitter questions from fans. Did I learn useful information? Hell no! But it was fun to learn more about the guy, himself.

Of course, sometimes it can get annoying when all they do is ReTweet their fans praising them. (I'm not looking at you Justin Bieber...only glancing.) All you have to do is click that *unfollow* button and the problem is solved.

2) All of Your News in One Place

Almost every news outlet that has an online website has a Twitter. That means if you follow them, their headlines will pop up in your Timeline. It's really nifty, having gaming news world news sprouting up without having to go to multiple websites. I like to add sites that I don't often visit, such as CNN and Lifehacker; that way, I can still keep tabs on them.

When I'm on my phone and want to read something later, I favorite the Tweet, and come back to it when I have time. It's great!

3) YOUTUBERZ!

Internet celebrities, especially from Youtube, almost always have a Twitter. And they have a hell of a time using it. Similar to celebrities, they can chat about whatever the hell they want, and usually it's pretty funny, especially when you catch conversations between them. Sometimes they give hints or post pics as to what's to come in their upcoming videos. They do work on their computers, after all.

Y'know that one youtuber, Charlieissocoollike? He's still charming as f*ck on Twitter. But I digress...

4) Interactivity

What do I mean by "Interactivity"? It means a lot of things. You can send a tweet towards any towards any person you follow (or don't follow, actually.) Depending on the popularity of the person at that moment, they may read what you say to them, and you may even get a reply, again, depending on the person them self and the probability they read your tweet out of hundreds.

Of course, different groups use Twitter for different reasons. IGN asked the people of Twitter for their reviews of TLoZ: Skyward Sword. Smosh finds twitter questions for "Lunchtime with Smosh" using the hashtag #lunchtime. GameInformer gave away Star Wars beta codes to the first followers that responded.

Anything can happen on Twitter!*

*Anything can't happen on Twitter.

5) Hashtags!

I fricken love hashtags. Especially when they're funny. And boy can they be funny if used right.

My favorite? #firstworldpains

6) Humor

I laugh at tons of crap on Twitter. Some are humor-specific. Menshumor, Womenshumor, Firstworldpains, and ThatAwkMmtWhen are a few. I constantly retweet stuff from them because they're so damn funny. Fer'real.

7) Quotes

Although I don't follow many of them, quote channels can be interesting. I follow one that quotes philosopers  and one that quotes disney movies. Let me tell you, most of my favorite tweets are from that disney quote channel. Some of them are...deep?...when taken out of context.

8) Yo Friends

"You put on Twitter what you don't think will get likes on Facebook."

It really is interesting what people put Twitter as opposed to Facebook sometimes. It's usually complaints and in-jokes abound. But you Twitter experience with your friends depends on, well, your friends. Personally, I like Twitter for the other stuff I mentioned, but having friends on there doesn't hurt!

9) Don't be Afraid to Just Jump on for the Ride

I follow a crap load of people, but don't post much myself. I'm really just along for the ride that is Twitter, even if I'm not really contributing much to it. In other words, don't feel obligated to do anything. It's as simple as that, however stupid it may sound.

10) Don't click random links tweeted at you

Seriously, don't do it. It'll just shower you with free gifts and money, and who wants that? Not anyone, that's who.

11) Fictional Characters

You can usually find fictional characters with Twitters, whether they're official or not. Some spout one-liners, like those from Glee, while others are just plain hilarious, like Batman's. He remarks on current events while still in character. It's absolutely great!

12) And more!

There are some things I haven't mentioned, like Trends and Lists. I don't look at/use these very often, so I don't know much about them myself. Remember, Twitter can be as useful or fun as you make it to be. You're in complete control of it all.

I suppose you want me to give you a list of people to follow. I'm not going to do that. At least, not right now. Feel free to sift through the 250 channels I follow and see if any of them tickle your fancy!

Follow me! If I can figure out who you are, I'll gladly follow you back!

Youtube Tuesdays: Week 3

Welcome to Youtube Tuesday, where I show you some videos I definitely think you should watch!

Let's get started!

Apparently, this was the first video I'd ever favorited....I have no idea.

Your pony video of the week...another music mash-up!

One really cool dance performance set to my favorite song from the "Chicago" movie musical.

This blog needs more Harry Potter puns...
...and alcohol, apparently.

In honor of one of greatest things to happen ever, the Muppets returning to the big screen, have a video they made with Ok Go singing their TV show theme song.

Completely random, but while I was making this, a commercial for "Chipwrecked" played on my television. Why the hell do they keep making these terrible movies based on Alvin and the Chipmunks? I mean, I don't mind the Chipmunks themselves...they just write is so horribly. But I digress.

Have a great Tuesday, everybody!

SKYWARD SWORD HAS ARRIVED!

Oh God! It's out today, guys! Possibly one of the best Zelda games out there! What a better way to celebrate than with some Zelda-themed videos!

A few raps first...

I personally enjoy the Smosh one better because of the little touches and the overall comedic tone. Both obviously had a lot of work put into them though, and the first one feels more like an actual rap.

I LOVE THIS ONE! Again, the rapping is awesome, and it encompasses a bunch of Zelda elements!

And now for medlies and such...

Amazin'!

This...this made me all warm 'n' fuzzy inside when I listened to it on my 3DS. F*ckin' Nintendo, making me feel things...

Beautiful music. Beautiful girl. Beautiful locations. What more could you ask for?

So that's it. If you have any more videos you'd like to add, leave a comment, and I made add it to this list!

Oh, and I may or may not post impressions of the game later, seeing as I'll most likely be getting it this week.

Until next time!

College Tales, Vol. 2: Picture Edition, Part 1

While roaming through the internet halls of Google+ (which you should totally, be on by the way), I came across a certain photo album. It contained every picture I'd taken with my phone camera since I started college (thanks to Instant Upload, but that's for another time.) Then I realized each of these had a story behind them, and here we are!

Let's begin, shall we?

This was taken within the first few days of being at college during freshman orientation while the mob mass of freshmen went to the stadium to get some vittles. One of my first "Holy Sh*t, a lot of people go here" moments. You'll see one more down below.
Umm...I thought she looked like my Aunt. That's pretty much the only reason for this photo.

You know that "Holy Sh*t a lot of people go here" moment I just mentioned? This is when it really hit. Known as "Quad Day," this is where each student organization has a booth to get you to sign up for their organization, from volunteering to social gaming. That was one hectic day, let me tell ya!

This is the kind of crap my chem lab had me taking pictures of. If I recall, we were supposed to take a photo of our NaCl solution at the meniscus of the graduated cylinder. Mission Accomplished!

Just in case I get my bag stolen by backpack thieves. Or ninja bears.

This was on the bus ride back home. Ever since visiting Purdue University, my mother has gained a fear of windmills (there are MILES of them on the way there). I figured I'd take a picture of these to show her that there were some on the way to my college, too!

One of my more...interesting discoveries. I've had the urge to pull them more than once. Would you like to know what they're for? I think they control the city power grid, or the electric fence surrounding the dinosaurs. I'm not sure which.
[If you would actually like to know, I guess you'll have to find out the answer in my next volume of college tales.]

Some kind of piano, just chillin' in my Sociology lecture hall. Boy did I want to touch this bad boy, but I refrained.

THAT BE COPPER ON A FRIT, SON! LOOK AT THAT SH*T!
(Another lab photo, showing the copper we'd filtered through a frit. Amazing.)

My mama sent me a cookie bag. My dorm mates became more friendly to me for some reason...

There are more photos to come, folks. When, I can't say, but I assure you, they're on the way! And some are even more hilarious than these babies!

And the Award for the Best Musical Performance I've ever seen goes to...

Glenbrook North's Production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Oh. My. God. This show. Here, let me start from the beginning.

It was Illinois Theatre Fest '11. I had picked up tickets to two shows: The Drowsy Chaperone during the day and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in the evening. To be honest, I didn't have a clue as to what either of these shows was about. I'd received a synopsis of the former from one of the heads of the theatre department, Mz. Burke, so I kind of knew what to expect from that one. (Even then, I was blown away by that show, but we're not here to talk about that one.) I seriously had no idea what to expect from the performance in the evening.

I was in for one hell of a night.

From the opening chorus, to the words they chose to spell, to the final "Goodbye" chord, everything about this show was perfect. The singers, the minimal set and choreography.

Everything.

I left the show rather depressed. There was no way in hell I'd aspire to anything near the greatness and perfection I had just witnessed. The feeling of awe certainly stayed with me for hours.

To this day, my friends and I talk about this show. I still regard it as the best performance of anything I've ever seen, professional or not. I hope it stays like that for a long, long time.

Imagine my surprise when I found out today that clips existed from this legendary show.

Before I get to that, I suppose I should talk about the actual show, first. "Putnam" tells the story of, you guessed it, a spelling bee. All of the characters spellers in elementary to middle school, and each has their own motivation for being there and trying to win. Last year's winner, the gentle dumb one, the activist, the quiet unloved bookworm, the perfectionist, the nerd; they're all here. They each have another dimension to their character that one learns about as the story progresses. It's all rather interesting.

You've got the vice principal reading hilarious words-used-in-a-sentence, and Rona, a previous winner with various favorite moments of the bee. Lastly, there's Mitch, the seemingly gangsta comfort counselor who wishes that these kids can see that it's not the end and that things will be better, even if he's some tough stuff in his life.

For more information, visit the wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Putnam_County_Spelling_Bee

Now for the Youtube clips I mentioned. Keep in mind that watching a recording of a performance is never as good as hearing it for yourself.

The Opening

I'm not that Smart

The Prayer of the Comfort Counselor, featuring one heavenly voice...

Lastly, one of the best songs ever created, The I Love You Song, sung perfectly.

And that's it! I hope those of you who missed out on this can understand the excitement it caused a little better.

Also, Putnam > Starmites.

Even though I've never seen Starmites.

Also, this Olive looks like Ms. Hansen.

Okay, I'm done.

That's all, folks! Until next time!

College Tales, Vol. 1 : Scares

I don't get scared very often.

Okay, maybe that's a lie. (OH JEEZUS WHERE'S MY PHONE!? OH GOSH IT'S NOT IN MY POCKET IT'S...oh it's on the bed.) I can admit to to you that I've only been legitimately frightened twice while I'm here in college, and neither of them are very...scary.

Oh what the heck, I'll tell you about when one of my friends was scared out of her wits, too.

1) The Clang

So I had to volunteer for a service project for one of my classes, so I decided to help build a "haunted house" at a local children's museum. My little group was assigned to sprucing up a "witch's hut." A cauldron, many candles, stuff like that.

So anyway, we were pretty much finished, and trying to do whatever else we could. While I was looking at a table of candles...

"CLANG!"

I felt a shot of adrenaline shoot up my body. I was scared out of my wits! Turns out, someone dropped a metal  candle-holder (one you could hang on things). It didn't help that it was dropped in a three-walled tent, amplifying the sound.

Okay, so the story itself isn't frightening, but...you just don't get scared in college, y'know? Especially when you're a boring, sheltered, lacking-common-sense individual like myself.

Hmm...how about another's misfortunes?

So I was sitting in Jena's dorm room. She was lying on her stomach looking at her Macbook on her bed, which was facing the window. I was sitting on the floor, watching TV, when something caught my eye in the window.

"Jena...I think there are some people on the roof."

"Oh, wow..." she had said, not really paying attention to what I told her.

All of a sudden here eyes flew open, and she gasped. The girl from one dorm room over was looking at us through the window, and it sure scared the s*@t out of Jena. The look on her face was truly priceless. It was pretty hilarious to see.

I've got one more story, again, that's not really scary, but scared the bajeezus out of me when it happened.

I was in my dorm room, on my laptop. My desk sits right next to my window, so I would occasionally glance outside and admire the weather. I don't get out much. I was looking at the computer, when something  jumped into my peripheral vision.

Suddenly, squirrel.

On my windowsill.

I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't scared out of my wits for a few moments. I even rolled my chair back a foot. Then I took the opportunity to really examine the creature beyond the glass. It was actually kind of cool.

Some of the squirrels on this campus are fearless, I tells ya. Anyone here can attest to that...but that's for another time...maybe...

Sorry for the sucky stories. Thanks for reading!

Youtube Tuesdays: Week 1

Hello, and welcome to Youtube Tuesdays! This is where I'll post 5 Youtube videos I think you should see (more if the others require explanations.)

You may notice that I'll be posting videos from similar sources (such as Smosh or MLP:FiM fanworks), and that's because those people need more fans, darn it!

Let's jump right in.

One of Smosh's series, "Ian is Bored." I find this one pretty hilarious. Mind the bigotry, though. Some of the people who asked questions are as*h***s.

For this next one, you're going to have to watch this one first to get what's going on.

And what do one of the fans of MLP do? They go and make this:
So they go and make this! It sound awesome, at least to me.

Again, this next one requires you watch this video, first.

So the makers of "Bed Intruder Song" went and made this...

Piano playa's gonna play.

And then someone went and combined two of the greatest things on earth, The Book of Mormon and Harry Potter...

That's five videos, right?

I might as well give you my Youtube channel, so you can see what I'm watching, favoriting, and liking...

If that doesn't sound as annoying to you as it does to me, friend me here: http://www.youtube.com/user/pianoajd?feature=mhee

That's all folks. Until next time!

Update Tiem!

First, I'd like to, once again, thank you guys for taking the time to read my blog. You're awesome, to me!

Alright, so this week, expect to see the start of my "College Tales" series. I think you can guess what that'll be based on.

Also, I think I'm going to start up "Youtube Tuesdays." Again, use your common sense to figure what that is.

Lastly, I'll be writing about Twitter. I can't guarantee that'll be this week, but it will be in the near future. Stay tuned!

As always, feel free to leave a comment, send an FB message, or use Formspring to tell me anything you'd like me to talk about. Seriously, I can't keep this up for long!

...or can I?

College, FIRETRUCK YEAH!

Disclaimer: Everyone is going to have their own college journeys and experiences based on their personality, major, and college. I'm just here to show you what you can expect, and tell you what I've learned. You can take this all as a grain of salt, or live by my words. I don't really care. But really, don't live by my words by creating idols or worshipping me like some kind of god that requires sacrifices, because I don't and that would be creepy. Very, very creepy. And psychotic.

...On second thought, if you must call me your god, send many, many chocolate bars, and I can guarantee your god shall be pleased with you.

Anyways, on with the blog!

HAI GUIZ WHATZ UP?

So in my last post, I basically whined and whined and whined about some pretty stupid, but true, stuff. Again, it's really not as bad as it seems. I mean, college has gotta have some cool stuff, too, right?

You bet your grass it does!

Where to begin, where to begin...

Professors and TAs*

Alright, alright. I know that getting great teachers is a game of chance, but most of my professors and TAs this semester are pretty cool.

One of my chemistry professors is very energetic, and isn't afraid to crack a joke or two about the lecture. He also loves doing demos.

My other professors aren't remarkable, but they know what their doing and are teaching it well, so there's nothing really left to say.

I also scored a bunch of helpful TAs. They were all in our seats, and know exactly what we're going through. Nothing much to say about them either, other than they're working effectively.

*TA stands for Teacher's Assistant, for all you college noobs.

Everyone deserves to be here

You're not going to run into as many people with a "f*ck school" attitude as often as ya did in high school. (Well...until midterms and finals roll around, but you here that expression for a different reason.) Everyone's here to work, learn skills, and move on with their careers. Sure, you'll run into a bum every now and again, but that's what you'll do in life, too.

[Author's Note: One of my dorm mates looked at this paragraph and said, "False. I've seen a few blondes. Lollercopter."]

Meetin' new people and makin' frans

If you come to college and manage not to make a single new friend, I'd be utterly...depressed. I mean, seriously, it's THAT hard...to not make friends, I mean.

They can come from anywhere, really. Your dorm, your classes, randomly on the Quad. It's amazing.

They can come from all over, too. For me, most of the scallywags in my hall hail from different parts of Illinois, but I've come to know a guy from California (he tells great stories by the way, but again, another time) and a guy from Singapore. It's pretty coo' if I say so myself.

You're going to find a lot of people who share your interests, too. For instance, there are tons of people who were in their high school's theatre and choir programs. (On a side note, I think I've met 3 people from different schools who had their own productions of Beauty and the Beast. Crazy!)

All in all, you've gotta get up and see what's out there! You'll be surprised!

Attractive College Males and Females

...and...well...I guess that's all there is to say, really...go get'em tigers and tigresses...!...

College Parties

I am obligated by the state of everyone to tell you such things exist, and that they are, as the kids say, off the heazy. Have I gone to one? No. Do I plan on going to one soon? Not really.

It's a halo, BITCH!

If it's your cup of tea, great! If not, that's fine too. Make good choices, folks. No your limits, be safe, have a network, blah blah blah.

No Parents!

No one tells me what to do anymore! I can stay up late! I can eat junk food! I can has soda whenever I want! Keep my room dirty! Swear! Play video games 'til my eyes burn! Pick my nose and ears at the same time, and one'll ever tell me no!

MWAHAHAHAHA! FIRETRUCK THE POLICE!

Although...I do have that lab report due. And there is that midterm I have to study for. And I have to meet Brian for dinner. And I have class at 8 tomorrow. And I'm ushering for that show...

Y'know what, I'd better get to bed early...

Campus Happenings

There are SO MANY organizations one can join, and events one can attend; it's almost ridiculous how much there is to do here. If you can't find one you like, start your own with some friends.

A few weeks ago, my mother and aunt were visiting me and we were walking through the Union with mint hot chocolates in hand. What did we discover in the conference room. A freakin' Renaissance fair/sale thing. People were dressed up, some were fighting, and there were many wares one could buy from each of the booths. We didn't end up walking through it, but it made me seriously go "WTF" and smile.

This place is awesome.

Performances and Speakers

Probably the best part of the college experience is being able to see all kinds of shows. I've sat through a bass and his pianist's performance, Cabaret, a wind orchestra performance, and a performance from the national tour of Beauty and the Beast. Next week there'll be Mozart's opera The Magic Flute and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It's gon' be shi'cray.

All of these events are local, and rather cheap for college students. I simply love it; adore it, in fact. It certainly is broadening my horizons.

Well, you've made it to the end. I once again remind you that everyone's experience will be different, but overall, you're in for a awesometasticsuperificexpioliolistupendous time. Embrace it all, for I'm sure the four years shall quickly pass...

Before I go, be sure to leave a comment if you have anything to share. If you have any questions or suggestions, send me a FB message or through Formspring (which I'll post below) if you wanna do so anonymously.

Mah Formspring: http://www.formspring(dot)me/taletwocit (Replace (dot) with an actual .)
Muh Twitter: http://twitter(dot)com/taletwocit (same as above)

Why I believe that college can go SUCK IT

GRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAH!

College can be a real pain in the tuckus sometimes often. Join me on my trip of intense RAAAAAGE and, erm... INTENSE SADNESS as I tell ya why.

You're friends....you're family...they've gone and left...

You've gotta start fresh, and if you're not socially equipped for it, you may start off on a rough note. It took a few days before I started talking with my dorm mates (that's a story for another time, chill'un). I haven't made that many friends in my actual classes, either. It's a tough time.

Not to mention you've lost part of a support network you've been using for years. I've had things I've wanted to talk about, but really couldn't because I haven't gotten close enough to these guys.

But it's not as bad as I'm making it sound. The "old world" is only a phone call away. Some of my close friends from high school are literally down the street. Really, it's not all that bad.

Then you start realizing you haven't seen these friends in two weeks, and go "WHAT THE FU

Shifting our focus to the dorm side of things:

Lack of Real Privacy

There's no place that one can really be to one's self in college. Oh sure, there's one's dorm room, but even that your sharing with a roommate, and it's not exactly sound proof, and sound from other places always gets in.

"But Alex, why would you *snicker* need a quiet place where no one can *snicker* hear you or see what you're doing?"

Shut the firetruck up.

I'll tell you why. I'll even let you in on a little secret. I love to sing, and I just can't do it as often as I used to. The tunes I tend to sing are...interesting...and I don't need people thinking I'm a complete weirdo. A partial weirdo is far enough.

In addition, quiet, private places are great for thinking, and these kinds of places are relatively difficult to find in college. As I was typing this, someone was vacuuming in the hallway. Can't a guy think, type, and listen to the rain in peace?

Lastly, haven't you ever just wanted to blast music? Yell and dance with glee? Cry your heart out, all in the privacy of a home? It's really not possible here, without someone becoming concerned.

There's not much to be done, as this is how living in a dorm works, and I've come to accept it.

Lack of Television

BLEH! Where the hell am I supposed to watch Glee, the Mentalist, Southpark, and My Little Pony now? I'll tell you where: I have to search pages upon pages of Google searches. It's not a fun process.

My lacking a television also means I can't play video games or movies on a big screen...AW FIRETRUCK!

I guess it really is for the best, though. I don't need more distractions, and if I really need to game, I've got my  laptop, so it's all coo'.

Dorm Food

The only way to experience this kind of pain is to live with eating the same kinds of food for months. It gets old, fast. I'm sure the idea of hundreds of hungry young adults amassing into 5 food lines sounds enticing, too. It is not.

I haven't eaten at a proper restaurant in weeks!

On second thought...

Alright, so it's not that bad, but it still sucks!

College can Destroy your Interests...

So most of you should know by now that I'm switching from Chemistry to something with Mathematics. Oh, how I dislike chemistry now. Not the actual thing, but learning about it. Although it's more my own fault than the big C's, I still dislike how this all worked out.

...and take away the Opportunity to fine-tune your talents.

I...I won't be able to take a choir class next semester, due to my work load, and I absolutely hate it. The music will always live in my heart, I suppose. The time these things require is just too much for a student not pursuing that kind of career. Ugh.

It's not limited to music, either. Theatre performances are limited to those who aren't pursuing a degree in theatre, especially if you don't know where to look. It's just so awful!

"There are other places to look?" you may be asking. That's for another time...

(Winter) Wrap-Up

Now do you understand the evils college can bring? Do you understand the suffering? It's horrible isn't it?

No?

Ah, whatever. Expect a post in the future about why college is a pretty cool place to be...brah...
