Be a Man!

So the other day, my sociology class was asked to brainstorm ideas to the following questions regarding gender. These were the responses we came up with.

[Please note: These are based on notes I quickly jotted, so they may not flow very well.]

What is gender?
-Gender is based on society and socially constructed identity. This includes stereotypes, generalizations, roles, ideals, and symbols.

What's good about your gender?
-Farting
-Deplorable social behavior (burping, rowdiness, etc.)
-Peeing standing up
-Getting our way
-The investment in pregnancies isn't physical

What's bad about your gender?
-Judged if you share your emotions
-The stereotypes of masculinity
-Competitive amongst others
-Expectations-"Bringing home the bacon"

Why would you want to be the other gender?
-Girls control the sex in a relationship
-Girls can have a deep connection with a child. For men, it's regarded as "creepy."
-Career options: Golddigger, Homemaker
-Getting into parties: no cover, free drinks, etc.

Why wouldn't you want to be the other gender?
-That time of the month
-Less money earned (Gender wage gap)
-Pregnancy lasts nine months

I hope you learned about the male gender today. I sure did.
