Wha'cha doin' in choir now, Alex?

Glad you asked. Right now we're working on "Magnificat in D Major" by Bach.

I've got my work cut out for me. Talk about latin at lightspeed.

Plus, I've got to learn it in 2 and a half weeks. OH CRAP!

And that's what I'm doing in choir.

A Note to Glenbardians (Glenbardenites, Glenbardoans, The Northern Clan of Glenbard?)

Hello. My name is Alex D. And I would like to offer you a big apology.

College. It's sucking my time away. The sad part is, it hasn't really started yet. The REAL work starts next week, but enough about me. We're here to talk about YOU.

It's another year of high school, or college for others, but this post is for the Glenbardines, since I know a bit more about high school than college.

A Public Service Announcement to All Students:

Do your homework, and stay in school. That is all.

To the Freshman:

LOL. Good luck freshies! Watch out for pennies! Buy ur elevatr passes quik or theyll sell out! You cant drive lulz.

To the Sophomores:

Year two, baby! Free from the title of "freshman," you're no longer the scum of the school. The punchline of the joke. YOU'RE INVINCIBLE!

Not really, actually. You're still two steps from being top dawg, but that's okay. I once heard that "Sophomore" means "wise fool," and I can see why. Don't wave any nonexistent power around because you're not at the bottom any more. Take it easy, man. Chill, bro. Keep it cool.

Use sophomore year to further your interests. If you liked something the previous year, continue it. Try something new. You've got plenty of time at the school to do so.

To the Freshman:

Sorry about before. You'll get attitudes like that, or maybe you won't. It depends on the "douchebag factor" of the upper classes. Stuff like that changes every year. For instance, back when I was a boy...I mean, freshman, the upper classes booed us at our first assembly. Thanks for the welcome, [CENSORED]s.

Anyways, welcome to Glenbard! You'll find friends and teachers you'll like and dislike, as well as a whole array of clubs and activities not available in middle school. Explore what looks interesting, or leave it for later. Ya've got four years of the place. Ya might as well give yerself things t'do later.

Oh, and don't be overwhelmed, or be afraid to ask for help. Everyone was new once (even if some people don't remember that...)

I'll update this as soon as I can! Leave a comment if you have anything to say!

Drivin' On the Road of Life...PART 2

Be sure to check out the first part down below!

The senior citizen drives slowly and carefully. However, they know exactly where they're going and how to get there. Sure it may take them awhile, but if they keep going at it at a steady pace, they'll reach their destination. Other people may question why they take so long, but those people don't know the truth.

The drunk driver has no idea. He wants to get somewhere, but at what cost? He takes a gamble. Is it worthing taking the risk of possible destruction by making that bad decision? Evidently so. With drunkenness comes a hangover, a consequence of the previous night. Physical and emotional damage may follow. It may take more than a few hours to heal the wounds the drunk driver caused.

The woman driver is terrible because she allows her feelings to muck everything up and she should be in the kitchen, making sammiches, with bacon. Lots of bacon.

It's rather simple to switch the different types of drivers, for better or worse. Nothing is ever set in stone, so just try you're best and you'll be okay.

Except for women driving badly. That'll always be a fact.

Drivin' on the Road of Life

So I just dropped off my sister at the midnight showing of  "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie."

Luckily, that has little to do with what I'm writing about.

In life, you're going to run into a bunch of different "drivers." Safe ones. Young ones.

Female ones.

I kid, I kid. Let's look at a few, shall we?

The average driver keeps his (we'll just assume the subject's male) eyes on the road, and does what he needs to get to his destination. Does he make mistakes? Of course, but they eventually work out. This is what our default is...just us being us and dancing through life.

The young driver doesn't know what to do. What am I doing? Where am I going? Inexperience, nervousness, or fear prevents them from taking the wheel and stepping on it. We all feel like the young driver at some point. Moving on to college, perhaps? Luckily, with time, young drivers slip into a much more comfortable state.

Next, there are the people who TWD (text while driving) or read books (I only say it because I've seen it...twice.) These drivers focus on something other than the road, giving only half of their attention to what's ahead. Clearly, their priorities aren't the best set at the moment. Can that text wait? Are you sure what you're doing is more important than the situation on the road? If they learn to put down the phone or reading material, they'll be just fine.

There's more to come to this post, including the drunk driver and the soccer mom. Stay tuned for updates.

Also, "Life is a Highway."

Random Post: Chestersee

Chestersee is a minor Youtube celebrity. He's a musician, as well as having a few comedic talents. I first saw him in a video he made with major Youtube celebrity Ryan Higa.

Why am I posting this now? He posted this funny video to go along with his very true song.

Have a few more:

There's plenty more on his channel.

Resist the Dark Urges

Alright, class. Today, we're goin' to be larnin' a bit about dark magic.

...urges. Dark urges.

What is a dark urge? It's...giving in at a moment of weakness. Some can occur within a second, while others take time to brew within their pot. Chill'un, ya must be weary and aware of'em, and ya must learn to fight'em.

Even the most good-hearted people run into interesting situations that require resistance.

Just the other day, I had my friend's cellphone in my possession while they were off doing something. I'd looked on the phone to see that an interesting conversation was on hold while the friend was away. I had to fight myself a little bit to not look into past texts to know more.

My friend would never know--they were old text messages after all. Yet, I knew not to stick my nose into other peoples' business and resisted.

Curiosity is a big source of  dark urges; when we're given the chance, we want to know more...about things we probably shouldn't. Our curiosity tends to get the best of us. It's hard to control.

The other source? Emotion. It tends to make us do or think things that we would not if we weren't upset. Whenever you find emotion ruling your thinking, step back and breathe. Do you really want to send that hateful text? Spread a rumor? Nothing good would come of it, and you'd know it, if you were thinking straight.

TL;DR (Too long; didn't read): Think through your actions, folks. Don't let curiosity or emotion make a decision without your true input.

IN OTHER NEWS:

I have a twitter, which I mostly just use to follow other people. I'll post whenever I have a new blog update. http://twitter.com/taletwocit

If you feel like asking me a question anonymously, or ya feel like cyber-bullying for the lulz, go here: http://formspring.me/taletwocit .

This is Alex D, signing off.

Hey! Where have you been?

Gah! Sorry, I was on vacation for a week, and haven't had access to a computer. Thus, no posts. I'll get right on it soon.

What's to come, you may ask? Dark urges, gossip, and a message to future high school students, that's what.

Until next time.
